ALBA LUISA GOMEZ
SPANISH teacher
Alba Luisa has been caring for and working with children for over 40 years. She was born in Colombia, South America, and has resided in the U.S. for over twenty years. She received a bachelor's in Education.
Alba Luisa has been volunteering as an English as a second language teacher with Boy with a Ball's Love Your City program and is integral to developing and furthering friendships with the community.
She has also worked as a real-time translator during her 16-year career as a medical assistant and in church services. She considers it a joy to connect with people and enrich their lives
.Alba Luisa believes that education should enable people to enjoy their surroundings (even in unfamiliar and new places), serve others, and prepare for different life stages. She believes this knowledge can be applied to various circumstances, making it central to a person's well-being at any age.
She lives in Lawrenceville, GA, and has been married to Arnold Gomez for over 47 years. They have three children and two grandchildren. She is excited to have the opportunity to impact the lives of her students and connect deeper with their families.
BARBARA WARREN
AFTERCARE teacher
Barbara has over 20 years of experience working with children. Initially, she worked in Washington Heights and Brooklyn, NYC public elementary schools, helping children with reading and writing. She also assisted the youth ministry at Vic Kidz at Victory Church. Additionally, she volunteered at Hope Women’s Shelter, and 12 Stones church.
Barbara has one daughter, who was born with a brain injury and was diagnosed with autism years later. While working with her ABA doctor, her daughter’s diagnosis was changed from being on the spectrum to having a speech impairment and a language delay. Today, her daughter attends Georgia Southern University, where she is majoring in music.
Once Barbara became an empty nester, she decided to return to work and began working at Gwinnett Global School. Barbara feels it is a wonderful blessing to be a part of the staff and work with the children.
Her goal is to make a difference in each student’s life, whether it be giving a high five for having an amazing day or listening to them when they did not have a great day. She believes encouragement and positivity can sometimes be the best remedy to support a child's success, and she looks forward to working with and getting to know each student individually.
KATIE WILLIAMS
Lead teacher | ESOL teacher
Katie grew up in the United States with a desire to study languages and cultures. This desire grew into a passion to know and support English language learners in their journey to become multicultural. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics at Georgia State University as well as a certificate to teach English as a Foreign Language.
She has over 10 years experience teaching English learners of all ages and levels. She is a wife and mother to three children.
Katie is grateful to be a part of Gwinnett Global School and to work towards the growth of each student.
KATHY JOHNSON
ASSISTANT TEACHER
Kathy has been working with children for over 30 years, first with her own three children and then with many others in a variety of settings in church and school and her home.
Kathy is inspired by children and finding out what makes things click for them. She was born in Germany to an American father and a Costa Rican mother, and has lived in multiple languages. She speaks English and Spanish and has always enjoyed learning and interacting with different languages and cultures.
She is thrilled to support the PreK students at GGS and to build relationships with the students, families and staff at the school.
PRISCILLA MCLAIN
LEAD TEACHER
Priscilla has been working with and caring for children for thirteen years. She taught in Gwinnett County Public Schools for three years before coming to GGS. She graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College with a degree in Elementary Education with reading and ESOL endorsements.
Priscilla has been volunteering as a tutor with Boy with a Ball’s Love Your City program for four years and has built significant relationships with students and other volunteers alike. Through her tutoring, her educator prep program, and working in the classroom with her own students, Priscilla’s passion for literacy and supporting struggling readers has blossomed. She believes in the power and magic of reading and the opportunities it brings to every student.
Priscilla is thrilled to be a part of Gwinnett Global School and to teach (and learn) from her students and their families as we work together to care for and build up the community around us.
RUTH FOWLER
ASSISTANT TEACHER
Ruth is thrilled to be helping at Gwinnett Global School. She was born and raised in New York City and was the only daughter after her mom had four sons.
She has been married for 52 years and has four adult children and 16 grandchildren. She and her husband recently retired and returned to the United States after serving for 45 years as missionaries in Japan. She also worked in two different schools teaching Pre K and ESL classes for 38 years.
She is excited for the opportunity to work with the students, staff and families of this school.
TRACY DANG
LEAD TEACHER
Tracy has an undergraduate degree from Georgia State University, where she majored in English with a concentration in creative writing.
Her passion for teaching stems from having had few, but impactful, teachers who inspired her to pay it forward to a new generation of learners. Tracy began her teaching career by assistant teaching Pre-K and then Middle School at independent schools.
At Gwinnett Global School, she is excited for the opportunity to serve and learn from students and families that come from different walks of life.
PETER EMMET
HEAD OF SCHOOL
Peter has over 15 years of experience teaching and leading in independent schools. He has an undergraduate degree from Harvard University in French and Italian and a Master’s degree in independent school leadership from the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University. He has taught French at all levels and grades, as well as English and Literature.
Peter loves learning new languages and making new cross-cultural connections, and he loves seeing the spark in a child’s eye when they make a new connection for themselves. He lives in Suwanee, GA with his wife Christine, his daughter Lucia (5), and his son Mateo (2), and he is excited to be launching this new school, with this outstanding community of students, families, and teachers. He looks forward to partnering with the families in this community in the raising up of the next generation.
